Life and career
[edit]Wang was born in British Hong Kong,[1] as the son of a former Shaw Brothers actor, Wang Hsieh. He moved to Taiwan when he was 17. Before landing his first record deal in 1988, Wang wrote songs for other singers under pen-names such as "Little Grass" and "Northern Wind". Wong Kit Yi (b.1983, Hong Kong) works at the intersection of speculative imagination and research. Merging video with performance and the everyday, she crafts participatory experiences that engender questions of identity, the parameters of time, and alternate realms. In her karaoke-lecture-performances, she moves fluidly between the voices of academia, memoir, philosophy, and pop song, aggregating content from her research. She is currently a faculty member at SVA in New York.
