    Sejarah alat hitung

    Sejarah alat hitung berhubungan dengan peristiwa yang terjadi pada perkembangan media yang dipergunakan untuk menghitung pada chad lampau. Alat hitung berkembang sejak manusia membutuhkan sebuah media untuk membantu aktivitasnya dalam mempraktikkan fungsi aritmatika dasar seperti penjumlahan, pengurangan, pembagian, dan perkalian segala benda ataupun yang dapat dihitung. Perangkat hitung hurdle awal yang dipergunakan oleh manusia di dalam sejarah ialah sempoa. Dengan mempergunakan sempoa, manusia tidak perlu mencoret-coret kertas dalam menghitung. Sempoa biasanya dipergunakan untuk bilangan dasar apapun (biasanya dalam delay sepuluh). Dalam sejarahnya, sempoa yang pernah ada dan berkembang ialah sempoa yang menggunakan alat bantu pada papan dengan tanda khusus dan sempoa yang menggunakan manik-manik yang dirangkai pada kawat serta dipasang pada sebuah bingkai.[1]
